LG launches new G3 smartphone

Korean conglomerate LG Electronics has launched its premium smartphone LG G3 in India. The G3 will be available with a price tag of Rs.47,990 for the 16 GB version and Rs.50,990 for 32 GB version It will come in three colours., and compete with Samsung S5 and Sony Xperia Z2.

LG has roped in veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan to endorse the G3 smartphone in India. The first 15,000 limited edition G3s will have the signature of Mr. Bachchan.

Amit Gujural, Marketing Head, said LG would sell one lakh G3 units in India. It would launch eight more models in India by the end of this year. So far, LG has launched 25 models in India with the price ranging between Rs.8,000 and Rs.55,000.

“Globally, the G3 has witnessed exceptional traction, and we expect the same in India,” said Soon Kwon, Managing Director.

“With G3, we aim to spearhead our vision of 10 per cent smartphone market share by the end of 2014 for LG’s mobile division in India,” Mr. Kwon added. G3 has a 5.5-inch Quad High Definition (HD) display with four times the resolution of HD, a 13 megapixel (MP) optical image stabilizer plus camera and the phone comes with polished metallic skin on the rear cover that is lightweight, fingerprint-proof and elegant.
